This photo is a long exposure taken in 2014 in Portland, Maine. When living in New Jersey, my friend Tim and I took a weekend trip to explore and take photos. When seeing the coast, I was floored! It was incredible. New Jersey’s coast is mostly beaches, all we saw in Maine were these awesome rocky shores. We headed to the light house in Portland, or “Headlight”, and there is a place where you can walk out over the fence onto the rocks near the water. I can’t even tell you how excited I was to be at this place with a camera. So pumped! Tim and I were shooting for a little while and I decided to set up a shot for long exposure. I have been seeing a lot of long exposure photography those days and recently got the tools to do so myself. I found my spot and went for it. It was a little dangerous and slick and the tide was rising, but no biggy! I remember taking the photo and Tim yells out as I’m walking back to the camera…”Weber! This is the best photo you’ve ever shot!!” It is a favorite and still motivates and encourages me to push myself and creativity!
