My friend Alex and I traveled across the country in August 2016 making a stop in Yellowstone National Park. It was a beautiful clear night under the stars we were photographing. While out shooting we noticed a certain brightness coming from one end of the sky and firgured it had to be the moon rising. If you have not seen a moonrise I would highly recommend it, the moon appears much larger when closer to the horizon and is often an unusual color. We pointed our cameras towards the rising light and started shooting. A main road was right in front of us and we had to time our shots to avoid the car lights passing by from interrupting the exposure. This photo I failed to do so and a cars headlights shined in creating the extra “light bubbles” and the arc you see on the right side. My first thought was to just throw the photo away but in the end it became my favorite one from that time!
