This is an hour long time-lapse of the stars. When I had this idea in my head, I was set on making it happen asap. Unfortunately, a full moon was out just about all night which is not good. A fuller moon takes away most of the light of the stars so it's best to shoot when its behind the earth or crescent. But! once I have an idea in my head for a photo, I am persistent. I woke up at 4AM one morning, just after the moon set and before the sun would rise. I scouted out this location in Grove City particularly because of where the stars in the sky are rotating. Previously to this shoot I went out and found the North Star. The stars circle the north star and I wanted to be able to silhouette myself in the circle of the stars rotating the North Star. This can be tricky though because the North Star is so high in the sky it would be hard to find the right perspective to shoot down low, especially here in Western PA. So I researched some and learned I could shoot the opposite direction towards the "South Star"(which doesn't actually exist) and get the same swirling effect in the sky, just below the horizon instead of above. Much easier to work with! (I don't know about you guys but it all seems much easier in my head to imagine than it is to explain in words.) So, after some trial and error, some research and planning and a clear night, it came together!
